Ph.D. Program "Applied Microeconomics"

Program

This doctoral program is organized as a "Graduiertenkolleg" sponsored by the German Science Foundation (DFG). It is jointly organized by the Humboldt University and the Free University, Berlin.

Its main objective is to familiarize beginning doctoral students with the state of the art of research in

Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, Game Theory, Finance, Public Finance, Econometrics.

The program consists of two years of course work in those subjects followed by a third year in which a dissertation should be written. All participating professors are possible dissertation advisors.

1. Year: Required courses in

plus optional courses in Game Theory, Information Economics, Public Finance, Statistics, Industrial Organization

2. Year: Optional courses (as above)

3. Year (and more): Dissertation

In the 2nd and 3rd year there are regular dissertation workshops at which participants present their dissertation projects.
