Professor
Uhlig receives Gossen Award of the "Verein für Socialpolitik"
On the occasion of the Verein für
Socialpolitik's Annual Congress in Zürich Professor Uhlig has been
awarded the Gossen Award 2003 on October 1.
"Harald Uhlig made important contributions to theory
and methods of the econometric analysis of dynamic macroeconomic modells as
well as to the implementation of these modells in the analysis of economic
policy issues. He systematically applied the theory of the intertemporal
general equilibrium and reviewed the implications of
alternative behavior assumptions. Through this he gains new insight on the dynamics of business cycle and growth processes as well as
on
the influence of tax and monetary policy on these processes." (Translation
of the award certificate)
Every year the "Verein für Socialpolitik" honours an economist from the German language area whose work has gained international reputation.
The purpose of the Gossen Award is to promote the internationalisation of German economic sciences. In the selection of the award winner, publications in respected international journals and the number of citations in the Social Science Citation Index are the key criteria.
The award is endowed with € 10.000 and is named for Hermann Heinrich Gossen. The award winner has to be under the age of 45 at the time of
presentation.
